A Different Unity

What makes me so different from you
See, my veins bleed red too
My heart beats just as yours does
My lungs take in air just as yours does
Our clothes are an image, not a class
To reflect our beliefs not to think we can surpass
Those who think they are better
We need to unite and come together
Away with all the separation
We fought this generations earlier, it was called segregation
Do you remember why we founded this country
To freely express that we are all different but still a unity
Show me that you are better, show me that your different
Is your skin made of iron, your blood made of gold
I don’t think so, not in this world, not ever at all
Your eyes may be brown, mine may be blue
But through them, I see the same world as you do
The anger needs to suppress, the hatred needs to die
All of our tears flow like water when we cry
The darkness is too much, the light too bright
Let’s find a buffer to find a better way to survive
Would you think that if we were all the same
The world would be as fun to play the game
Variety is what makes the world go round
Like the tastes of pork and ground round
The tastes of life, the colors of the world
You don’t see nature unifying to one way of growing
Why should I, why should we, we’re all evolving
Why can’t we be different and live in harmony
That’s the way the world was meant to be
